La Habra rolls over Buena Park, 56-0

    Special to OCVarsity.com

LA HABRA La Habra quarterback Chris Morales threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Highlanders past Buena Park, 56-0, on Friday night in a Freeway League game at La Habra High.

The Highlanders  offense was unstoppable and gained 433 total yards to 174 total yards for the Coyotes (0-8, 0-3).

Morales connected on his first two pass attempts for touchdown scores of 33 and 63 yards. La Habra (8-0, 3-0) ran  just four offensive plays in the first quarter.  Randall Nygren blocked an Allan Cervantes punt, and Corey Spada recovered it in the end zone to give La Habra a 21-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Highlanders finished with 248 yards in the first half on 12 offensive plays.

Morales was replaced by Nygren in the fourth quarter at quarterback. Nygren threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Dominic Sierra

Josh Quezada rushed for  93 yards in the fourth quarter on  just four carries. His last rush went for a 28-yard TD run that made  the score 56-0.

"I was happy with our execution tonight," Coach Frank Mazzotta said. "It’s hard getting players back into synch when they haven't played a live game in several weeks."

The Coyotes were led by running back Justin Blackburn, who fought for every  one of his 69 yards. Deon Anthony contributed 57 yards rushing.
