Balanced attack carries Mission Viejo
MISSION VIEJO The passing of Allan Bridgford and the running of Craig Woods fueled an impressive performance for Mission Viejo.
Bridgford threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns, while Woods ran for 137 yards and three touchdowns, as the Diablos manhandled Capistrano Valley, 42-14, Friday night at Capistrano Valley High.
“I’m happy with the way the team is playing,” Diablos coach Bob Johnson said. “We’re coming together at the right time of the season.”
The remarkable offensive display began early in the first quarter. After the Cougars’ first possession ended with a punt, it took only two plays for the Diablos to grab the early lead. A 22-yard touchdown run by Woods made it 7-0.
The Diablos are 6-2-1, 3-0-1. The Cougars are 4-4-1, 0-3-1.
