El Dorado controls action, rolls over Glendora
GLENDORAEl Dorado emphatically declared itself ready for Century League action.
Kane Wilsonthrew for 104 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns as the Golden Hawks dominated Glendora, 35-14 in a nonleague game Thursday night at Citrus College.
“We came out quick tonight and set the tone,” said Wilson, who completed 6 of 11 passes. “We had a good week of practice and this will boost our confidence a lot.”
The Golden Hawks (4-1) controlled the game from the start. After stuffing the Tartans' first possession, the Golden Hawks marched 56 yards in six plays, taking a 7-0 lead when Wilson hit tight end Trace Wilsonon a beautiful 9-yard play-action pass.
The Golden Hawks defense forced the Tartans (3-2) to punt on their ensuing possession, and Wilson wasted little time leading the offense back to the end zone.
A 42-yard pass to tight end Nolan Sheldonhighlighted a seven-play, 71-yard drive that ended with a 9-yard touchdown run by Wilson to give the Golden Hawks a 14-0 lead.
The Golden Hawks special teams keyed two short touchdown drives in the second period.
After forcing another Tartans punt, punter B.J. Gonzalez was tackled for a 13-yard loss. The Golden Hawks then methodically marched 30 yards in six plays, culminating in Wilson’s second 9-yard touchdown run, which increased the Golden Hawks’ lead to 21-0 midway through the second quarter.
