Anaheim FG wins it
ANAHEIM - At 5-foot-7 and 227 pounds, Ramon Mejiais an unlikely choice for a kicker. But he doesn't flinch when the game is on the line.
Mejia made a 33-yard field goal with 39 seconds left on Friday to give Anaheim a 13-10 victory over Loara at Glover Stadium.
"All I was thinking about was that I gotta make it to make coach happy," Mejia said.
Mejia's field goal, on a perfect snap by Isaac Iosefaand hold by Luis Reyna, helped the Sentinels (4-0), ranked No. 2 in the Southern Division, remained unbeaten.
"Ramon's been our kicker since last year," Anaheim coach Lanny Booher said. "I'll take my chances with him. He's automatic."
Loara (1-3) moved the ball to Anaheim's 45 with 22 seconds left but four incompletions ended its chance to rally.
"I'm proud of our kids," Loara coach Dean Lappin said. "We've just got to learn how to finish games."
