CVC rolls to 92-6 victory
Capistrano Valley Christian had all but sealed its 92-6 victory over Liberty Christian before fans even settled into their seats Friday at San Clemente High.
With three separate rushers going for over 100 yards and at least two touchdowns, the CVC (2-0) offense had its way with the Liberty Christian (0-1) defense, repeatedly finding open lanes and breaking tackles.
"We were definitely able to rack up some yards today, we're a running team," Coach Chris Fore said.
After roughing up Liberty Christian in last season's matchup, CVC wasted little time proving that it was still the better team. By the end of the first quarter the Eagles had a 34-0 lead, with touchdowns from three separate sources.
The backbone of the CVC offense was senior quarterback Andre Argaez, who ran for 206 yards and four touchdowns. He also tossed a touchdown to senior running back Kevin Howe. Overall the Eagles rushed for 491 yards.
CVC fell short of the all-time Orange County record for points in a game by a single team; Fullerton tacked up 114 against Fullerton High in 1921.
| Well isnt this just another example of the fine Christion attitude. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, only do it first. If you think this is bad, get involved with the Christian owner of a company who will stiff you and not pay his bills. Maybe needs to play one of the large LA teams and see who gets pounded then in the name of the lord. |

| Anyone who would claim that CVCS ran up the score in this game obviously was not at or watching this game and does not know this coaching staff. In fact just the opposite was true. In addition to the comments made by Coaching I would like to add the following CVCS stopped passing after the 1st quarter to keep the clock running and prevent long gaines practiced field goal attempts on 4th and short yardage in situations when the obvious strategy would have been to go for a first down took Andre off defense in the second half and put Howe in at QB until he was injured and Andre HAD to go back in put in the second string punter and kicker asked to have the clock run continuously in the second half openly hoped on the sideline that the opponent would stop passing so the clock would continue to run played as many second string players as were available throughout the second half. In short, everything that was humanly possible was done by the coaching staff to keep that score down and end that game as soon as possible . |

| what do you want them to do let up? if you do that guys start getting hurt. cvc did put howe in at QB but he got hurt early in the drive, so they were forced to keep andre in, they only have four subs and they are all linemen. sean mulryan and bryan argaez, both sophomores, played the entire game! mike jacobs and andre, did not play the entire second half on defense. what do you want them to do? |

| we were at the game. you left andrea at quarterback the whole time. you could have atleast put howe back there. you shold have put your jv's in fore, cause your team is going to be hurting after this senior class leaves. they are going to need practice BADLY if they dont want st. margrets to beat you by 86 next year! |

| how is it bad coaching on the part of a school that has 14 varsity players? was the coach supposed to put his lineman at QB? put kids totally out of position so that they increase their chance of injuries?
tell his kids to fumble the ball?
cvcs started fair catching the punts in the SECOND quarter so as not to run up the score. the liberty coach didn't want a running clock. guess what that does? give the team dominating more time to score. when you run an offense where you pass three times and then punt, it is hard not to be scored upon this many times. when you go for a fourth and 15 from your own 10-20 yard lines on more than 2 occasions you are putting your team in a horrible position. what was cvcs supposed to do? take a knee every play?
play the jv team right? so, you want your 14 year old son playing against varsity players in his first high school football game ever? cvcs' jv team has yet to play a game this year. all 4 eligible sophomores in the program started playing in the second quarter. one 15 year old frosh started playing in the second quarter.
not much you can do outside of taking a knee every play.
unless you saw the game, you have no right to comment about the leadership in this game. |
