    James Cacioppo, Pitcher, Sonora, Junior

    Highlights:The Freeway League's player of the year, Cacioppo was 11-1 with a 0.64 ERA. The right-hander struck out 70 in 77 innings, with only 17 walks, and pitched three shutouts. Cacioppo also was one the top hitters on the league-champion Raiders, with a .373 average and team highs of 38 hits and 21 RBIs.

    Greg Davis, Pitcher, Edison, Senior

    Highlights:He was the Sunset League's pitcher of the year. Davis, a right hander, was 8-3 with a 2.00 ERA. He struck out 61 in 70 innings for the Chargers, who were league co-champions. Davis signed with UC Santa Barbara.

    Daniel Renken, Pitcher, Orange Lutheran, Senior

    Highlights:The Trinity League pitcher of the year, Renken was 8-3 with a 1.95 ERA. He had 67 strikeouts in 61 innings for the Lancers. He signed with Cal State Fullerton and was drafted by Colorado last week.

    Michael Watt, Pitcher, Capistrano Valley, Senior

    Highlights:Watt was the South Coast League's player of the year. A left-hander, Watt was 10-1 with a 1.95 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 61 innings. He also batted .340 with a team-high 28 RBIs for the league-champion Cougars. He signed with Long Beach State, and last week was drafted by the Dodgers in the second round as the 86 {+t}{+h}pick overall.

    Derek Hall, Catcher, El Dorado, Senior

    Highlights:Hall batted .458 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs. In Century League play, he hit .471 and in the Phil Nevin National Classic he hit four home runs. Also an outstanding defensive catcher, Hall was drafted by Philadelphia in the 29 {+t}{+h}round last week.

    Bobby Moulas, First baseman, Canyon, Junior

    Highlights:For a guy who did not play in 2006, Moulas had quite a season in '07. He led the Comanches in home runs, with six, and RBIs, with 35, and batted .431 to help Canyon reach the CIF-Southern Section Division I championship game. Also a pitcher, Moulas was 4-1 with 32 strikeouts in 38 innings.

    Christian Colon, Infielder, Canyon, Senior

    Highlights:He came into the season as one of the most highly regarded players in Southern California and lived up to it. He batted .435 with team highs of 34 runs scored and three triples for the CIF-SS Division I finalists. Colon stole 16 bases on 17 attempts. He signed with Cal State Fullerton, and last week was drafted in the 10 {+t}{+h}round by San Diego.

    Tyler Rahmatulla, Infielder, Mater Dei, Junior

    Highlights:He was a Trinity League player of the year. Rahmatulla batted .352 with 26 RBIs and 26 runs scored, with three home runs, 13 stolen bases and seven doubles for the league champion Monarchs. He also pitched for Mater Dei, with a 3-0 record and three saves.

    Josh Vitters, Infielder, Cypress, Senior

    Highlights: A case of pneumonia got Vitters off to a slow start, but he still hit .390 with nine home runs and 29 RBIs. He also hit six doubles and three triples for the league champion Centurions. Vitters capped his senior year by being the third player chosen in the first round by the Chicago Cubs.

    Brett Krill, Outfielder, Aliso Niguel, Senior

    Highlights:A very productive player on a sub-.500 team, Krill batted .439 with five home runs and 24 RBIs with 15 stolen bases. He struck out only twice in 66 at bats. Krill signed with UCLA.

    P.J. Spinazze, Outfielder, Esperanza, Senior

    Highlights: Spinazze led the Aztecs in several categories. His batting average of .414, his 23 stolen bases, his 37 runs scored and his nine doubles led Esperanza. He signed with the University of San Diego.

    Jordan Tripp, Outfielder, Los Alamitos, Senior

    Highlights:He was a pitcher his junior year, then started playing in the outfield in the fall. Tripp's improvement was rapid, as he was Sunset League player of the year after batting .390 with 25 RBIs and a team-high six home runs. He also hit six doubles and scored 25 runs.

    Austin Romine, Utility, El Toro, Senior

    Highlights:He batted .493 with three home runs, 10 doubles and 18 RBIs. When a hand injury made him unable to bat, Romine still contributed in the Chargers' capture of the Sea View League championship as a pitcher. He signed with Arizona State and last week was drafted in the second round by the New York Yankees.
