Tesoro wide receiver Jake Smeltzer (6-3, 195), set to play in Saturday night’s Orange County-Inland Empire all-star game at Corona High, has committed to Cal Poly SLO, the senior confirmed.
“Just thought it was a good fit,” Smeltzer said of the Big Sky contender. “It’s close to home, has good football and academics and I liked the staff a lot.”
Smeltzer finished this past season with 44 catches for 795 yards. Interestingly, Smeltzer could someday be a target for SLO QB Kai Ross (Huntington Beach).
