A historical 2015 high school swim and diving season, featuring the first state championship meet, starts Saturday with Brea Olinda playing host to Sonora’s rising boys and girls at 9 a.m.

Saturday is the first day for meets but schools such as Mater Dei will be hosting intra-squad meets as tune-ups.

At Estancia’s pool, pictured with its new LED lights, the season schedules are posted in on-deck displays next to the record boards. Estancia hosts its annual frosh-soph co-ed swim invitational April 18. That’s just one of several meets that will highlight Saturdays this spring.

The state championship meet is scheduled for May 22-23 in Clovis and could feature some elite times from Santa Margarita’s Katie McLaughlin, Crean Lutheran’s Ella Eastin, Saugus’ Abbey Weitzeil, Capo Valley’s Nick Norman, Santa Margarita’s rising junior Grant Shoults and JSerra’s reloaded girls team.

Coaches and team statisticians can download a season survey here or contact dalbano@ocregister.com for a password to update times for the OCVarsity leaderboard. The Register’s 2015 swim standards for the daily paper will be released this week but there’s no limit to the times that can be posted to OCVarsity.com
