Los Alamitos’ boys and girls track programs claimed Sunset League titles on Thursday. 

The boys outscored Edison, 123-103, while the girls finished ahead of Fountain Valley, 149-117.

Edison’s Julia Sienski ran a 4:58.33 in the girls 1,600. That time is sixth best in Orange Conunty. Sienski also ran 10:53.08 in the 3,200, seventh best in the county.

Huntington Beach’s George Gleason ran a 4:18.03 in the boys 1600, also good for sixth best in the county this season.

The Chargers also took home the girls 100-meter hurdles when Hailey Bond ran a wind-aided 15.07. Los Alamitos’ Tyler Rios, who already owns the second-best time in the boys 110-meter hurdles, ran a wind-aided 14.71 in the event.

Ashley Willingham won the girls 400 for the Griffins with a 57.97. Los Alamitos’ Andrew Carty finished first in the boys 400 with a 50.31.

Edison’s Eamon Smythe followed his win in the 800 at the Orange County Championships with a 1:54.47, which was good enough for the win. The Oilers’ Cassie Durgy bested the competition in the girls 800 with a 2:14.16.

Newport Harbor’s Natalie Ward ran an impressive 45.39, fifth-best time in the county, in the girls 300-meter hurdles. Rios also earned a 37.83 in the boys 300-meter hurdles, which is the second best time in the county.

The Griffins girls won the 1,600-meter relay team in 4:02.89. The Chargers boys took the 1,600-meter relay with a 3:23.37.

Huntington Beach’s Susannah Oleson won the girls high jump with a clearance of 5-5. Marina’s Matt Dispenza cleared 6-8.50 in the boys high jump, to catapult himself to second best on the county charts.
