Football recruiting: Buena Park's Hawkins lands first offer

Buena Park sophomore wide receiver/defensive back Jaylinn Hawkins has been offered by San Jose State, Coyotes football coach Anthony White reports.

White said San Jose State -- the first school to offer Hawkins -- is recruiting him as an athlete.

In other Buena Park football news, quarterback guru Steve Calhoun has been named the new offensive coordinator, White said.

Calhoun is a NFL combine ready coach but also a former assistant at Servite, JSerra and Golden West College. He has worked with 2013 NFL draft prospect E.J. Manuel and former Servite quarterback Cody Fajardo (Nevada) among others.

White also has been selected the East coach for the 605 all-star game June at Cerritos College.
