CIF-SS FOOTBALL SEMIFINALS:

SOUTHERN DIVISION

CORONA DEL MAR (10-2) VS. WOODBRIDGE (7-5)

Site, time: Irvine High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: The top-seeded Sea Kings meet the Pacific Coast League-rival Warriors in this semifinal. Corona del Mar beat Woodbridge, 33-16, on Oct. 26 and went on to win the Pacific Coast League title. The Warriors finished in third place.

The Sea Kings have dominated on offense and defense in their two playoff victories, shutting out Anaheim, 35-0, and Los Amigos, 26-0. CdM's high-powered offense is led by QB Cayman Carter, who has passed for 1,822 yards and 17 TDs and rushed for 872 yards and 12 TDs, RB Kai Wilson (113 car., 838 yards, 8 TDs) and WR Troy Reese (49 rec., 735 yards, 8 TDs).

Woodbridge has knocked off Golden West League champion Westminster, 20-17, and Orange League champion Katella, 21-9, to reach the semifinals. If the Warriors are going to have a shot at pulling off an upset, they will need to control the line of scrimmage and get a big game from RB Austin DeFreitas, the county's second leading rusher with 2,029 yards and 19 TDs.

CdM limited DeFreitas to 84 yards and no TDs on 17 carries in the first meeting.

Woodbridge's defense is led by OLB Tyler Branin, who had 21 tackles in the victory over Katella.
