Outlook: Have La Habra's glory days come to an end? The Highlanders won a county-record four consecutive CIF football championships, from 2007 to '10. Last year, the Highlanders plummeted all the way down to just being a semifinalist. The horror!
And this year, the Clan is 1-2, but those losses were to La Mirada and St. Paul, the first a championship contender in the Southeast Division and the second a very-improved team. La Habra should go undefeated in the Freeway League again and could get to the Southwest Division final four again.
The Clan is scoring points, averaging 27 a game, but is giving up 30 a game. La Habra might give up that many in this one. Lutheran is averaging 34 points a game, but against teams that are a collective 2-6. The Lancers are better than they were last year, when they missed the playoffs and finished 1-4 in the Trinity League. Is Lutheran improved enough to win a playoff berth? Maybe. But be confident that Lutheran is the better of these two teams.
