Garden Grove League

LOS AMIGOS (4-1, 0-0) VS. GARDEN GROVE (1-4, 0-0)

Where, when: Garden Grove High, Thursday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Garden Grove won at least a share of the Garden Grove League championship the past three seasons. The Argonauts not only won the league title in 2010, they also won the CIF-Southern Section Southern Division championship. They had last year's Orange County offensive player of the year, and county male athlete of the year, Josh Webb, but the multi-talented Webb graduated.

The Argos' record so far shows how much they miss Webb, but look a bit deeper and it can be seen that Grove's nonleague record was the most challenging it has been in perhaps forever, with games against El Toro, Woodbridge and Pacifica. This Los Amigos team could be the best group of Lobos since they shared the '08 league championship with Grove and Santiago. The Garden Grove League is the league of the throwing-running quarterback, and Los Amigos has one of those. Danny Hernandez has passed for a league-leading 677 yards and has completed 62 percent of his throws. He also has rushed for almost 200 yards and has four rushing touchdowns. Grove still has plenty of players who know how to win a big game, but the best teams in this league this season could be Los Amigos and Rancho Alamitos.
