University comes up big at The Ojai

University sophomore Gage Brymer captured the CIF singles title in the 111th annual Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament on Saturday, and the Trojans won their second consecutive team title in the event. It was University's fourth overall title.

Brymer beat San Marino's Jonny Wang, 6-2, 6-4, in the finals to capture another impressive championship after taking the Easter Bowl title in Palm Springs recently.

Wang got to the final after beating Canyon's Denis Nguyen in his semifinal.

Brymer is undefeated as a sophomore and is ranked No. 1 in Southern California 16s and No. 6 in the nation. University coach John Kessler said that Brymer also has been invited to play for the Junior U.S. Davis Cup team.
