Santa Ana Valley is not only in first place in the Orange League, but the Falcons' stingy defense is unscored upon in five league matches. Coach Shane York credited the play of center fullback Mayra Castillo and goalkeeper Veronica Helguera for keeping the opposition out of the net.

The Falcons' (12-4-1, 5-0) offense is led by sisters Gigi, Mar and Claudia Rodriguez. The trio has combined for 21 goals and 18 assists this season. Santa Ana Valley proved that it's the team to beat in league by shutting out Magnolia, 2-0, on Thursday. The two teams had been tied for first place. This week, the Falcons host Savanna and travel to Western. Their rematch with Magnolia is Feb. 7.
