Brea Olinda is the home team for that CIF-Southern Section Southern Division championship game Friday. It has, as it is allowed to do, elected to use its on-campus stadium for the game.
Canyon wants the game played elsewhere. Maybe Santa Ana Stadium. Maybe Orange Coast College.
A change of venue would have to be approved by the CIF-SS office. CIF-SS officials might make a tour of the Brea stadium with Brea and Canyon personnel on hand to determine if the venue has ample seating and sufficient parking to have the Southern Division game there.
If a change of venue is made it must be made by early afternoon Wednesday.
Fryer’s thoughts: Santa Ana Stadium is the place. Plenty of seating, great sightlines … large parking structure next to the stadium. And it is just fine, safety-wise.
