CIF State Track Meet to be held in Clovis

Buchanan High will serve as the meet's host for the next three years.

The CIF State Track and Field Championships will call Clovis home for the next three years.

The CIF Executive Committee Board announced Monday that the state's showcase event will be moving to Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of Buchanan High School beginning with the 2009 meet.

The move marks the first time since 1973 that the state championships will be held at a high school campus. The two-day meet has alternated in recent years between Cerritos College in Norwalk and Hughes Stadium, on the campus of Sacramento City College.

The 91st annual CIF State Track and Field Championships are scheduled for June 5-6, 2009.
