Round 2 scoreboard: Fans pick the finalists
It's time for everyone to put down their voting fingers and step away from the keyboards.
The second round of fan voting for the Orange County athletes of the year has ended, the votes have been counted and we have our winners.
But before we announce the fans' picks to move on to the championship round, take a look at this number: 63,288.
That's how many votes were cast in this round of the tournament -- and that was in just four days.
While some saw it as a popularity contest, many others left comments on OCVarsity.com's blog that they were voting for the best athletes they had seen, heard about or followed in some way all season.
It's a great way to take part in the debate over the top boy athlete and top girl athlete in the county.
This way, the fans get their say now, and the Register and OCVarsity.com will announce their choices for the boys and girls athletes of the year next month.
So, still curious to know who is moving on to the championship round? (Note: The final round begins Friday at noon.)
