Softball playoffs: Division IV highlights

Highlights from Friday's CIF-SS playoff games:Division IV
Segerstrom 2, Ontario Christian 1: Junior Monica Segura almost single-handledly beat the visting Knights. On the mound she pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and no earned runs. On offense she went 1 for 1 with an RBI double in the first inning before being intentionally walked on the rest of her plate appearances. Jerrica Alarcon also added an RBI in the first inning for the Jaguars.
Ocean View 1, Bishop Montgomery 0: Nikole Afusia's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference as the Seahawks slipped past the visiting Knights in the opening round. Sarah Craig led off the sixth with a single and advanced to second on a past ball. Afusia then singled to right center scoring Craig. Holli Floetker shutout Bishop Montgomery, striking out 10 and holding them to only three hits.
Savana 13, Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks 3: Tanya Dowler led the host Rebels giving up only six hits and striking out four. Dowler was also 4 for 5 and scored four runs and with three stolen bases. Brittany Marchant and Maegan Duncan had 3 hits each as the Rebels pounded out 18 hits and had 8 different players drive in runs. Savanna will play the winner of the Gahr vs. Ventura game on Tuesday.
