Highlights from Friday's CIF-SS softball playoff gamesDivision I
Mater Dei 13, Royal 4: Alyssa Erickson hit a two run homer in the second inning and had three RBIs for the host Monarchs. Karina Cervantes added two hits and scored two runs while Caitlin Ortiz had two hits and scored three runs. After giving up four runs in the first inning Miranda Tamayo held the Highlanders scoreless for the next six and earned the win.
Esperanza 6, Orange Lutheran 3: After entering the game in the fourth inning to relieve starter Chelsey Anderson, Alexis Borden pitched three innings, giving up three runs, striking out four and earning the win for the host Aztecs. Kailyn Johnson went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two doubles in the winning effort.
Rosary 2, Marina 1: Kaleigh Moses scored on a Kendra McClelland sacrifice fly for the second time in the game, in the bottom of the sixth inning to score the winning run for the host Royals (21-9). Alex Payton pitched a complete game and earned the win.
Trabuco Hills 3, Edison 0: Sophomore Kayla Massey pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lift the Mustangs over the visiting Chargers.
