Five things you should know about the Lancers:
1. They don’t take their No. 1 ranking for granted but it isn’t their first priority.
“We don’t look at ourselves as better than anyone at all,” receiver and defensive back Scotty Williams said. “We have to compete for the No. 1 spot. Those numbers are awesome and we’d love to win league and win CIF. But our main goal is to become champions of life.”
2. Their state title and overall success the past two years keeps them looking forward.
“We don’t really look back,” Williams said. “Those are great accomplishments but we have to learn from the past and focus on what’s coming up.”
3. Players to watch: DL Aaron Prindle, DL Kapono Asuega
4. Areas of need: offensive line, linebacker
5. Areas of strength: running back, defensive line
