Trinity: Biggest question and outlook
Biggest question to answer this spring:
Who is Matt Barkley going to throw to?
Outlook: What stands out at first is all the talent that was lost to graduation. But this is still the Trinity League and future college football players surely will surface. Mater Dei best exemplifies that as it lost more than anyone yet brings back national player of the year Matt Barkley. The USC-bound quarterback expects to win a CIF title, but last year's second-round exit proved the Monarchs will not simply go as far as he takes them. He will need help. Orange Lutheran has stood atop the county for two years and might do so again, given what it returns on both sides of the ball. The Lancers' Achilles' heel has been Servite, which is an underdog to begin the spring. The Friars lost considerable talent at the skill positions and on defense, and will need some new playmakers to emerge. It looks to be a rebuilding year for Santa Margarita, which earned the Pac-5 at-large entry in 2007.
