North roster picked for O.C. All-Star Game

Cypress' Saumur, Los Alamitos' Koontz lead selections.

All-purpose standout Ryan Saumur of Cypress, Boise State signee Darren Koontz of Los Alamitos and Air Force-bound Brady Lukas of Esperanza are among the North roster selections for the Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game.

The game is July 11 at Orange Coast College.

Saumur (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) can play variety of positions, including wide receiver and defensive back. The Northern Arizona signee also is a kicker.

Koontz (6-3, 255) will help anchor the defense as a lineman.

Lukas (6-2, 235) plays linebacker and is one of seven first-team All-County players on the North's 36-man roster.

The first-teamers are Saumur, Esperanza offensive lineman Kyle Grosky, Esperanza defensive lineman Blake Poole, Pacifica wide out Tyler Ortiz, Servite linebacker Anthony Hannon and Brea Olinda punter Logan Sewell.

La Habra's Chris Morales and Orange Lutheran's Blake Hyepock were tabbed as quarterbacks. Valencia's Wes Fletcher, who signed with Idaho State, is among the running backs.

North coach Brent McKee of Canyon has three of his players on the squad: wide receiver Christian Daniel, linebacker Sean Kurtz and defensive back/running back Josh Hawkins.

The North leads the series, 24-21-3.
