Top 25 countdown: 1-5
Check out the final five teams in the ocvarsity.com poll.
5. Servite (8-4): There is quality on offense, defense and special teams, and if multi-purpose senior D.J. Shoemate is healthy enough to return to '05 form, the Friars are going to be tough to beat.
4. Edison (11-3): Senior QB Nick Crissman, who committed to UCLA does not have the tremendous receivers the Chargers had last year, but they do have an improved running game and a solid defense.
3. Mission Viejo (9-3): Junior QB Allan Bridgford is improving fast, and the Diablos have so much talent all over the field that they should stay in the top half of the county rankings all season.
2. Orange Lutheran (14-1): The Lancers have to replace '06 county offensive player of the year QB Aaron Corp and a few others, but they still have enough athletes and confidence to have an excellent '07.
1. Mater Dei (8-3 in 2006): Rising-star QB Matt Barkley might have the best group of receivers he's played with, and an outstanding line leads a formidable defensive group.
