Cross country notebook: Kohl signs with Cal

OCVarsity.com

Esperanza cross country star Keena Kohl has signed a letter of intent to attend Cal.

Kohl, a senior who was a second team all-county and all-state selection this season, was instrumental in helping the Aztecs finish second at both CIF-SS Division I Finals and the State Championships in November, and 17th at the Nike Team Nationals in Portland.

Individually, she finished fifth at the Orange County Championships, second at the Sunset League finals and 15th at the state meet.

Fountain Valley's Migliorini resigns

Fountain Valley girls cross county coach Barry Migliorini has resigned after 10 years at the school.

Migliorini coached the Barons to 110 regular season victories, the 2004 Orange County Championship, four consecutive Sunset League titles, eight consecutive State Championship appearances, and the CIF Division I state championship in 2005.

“I just felt it was the right time for me to go,” he said.

“The thing that I will miss the most is working with the kids, who were wonderful human beings.”
