Recruiting update: JSerra's Walker commits to USC
The guard is rated the No. 25 shooting guard in the Class of 2009 by ESPN.
JSerra guard Demetrius Walker, rated by ESPN as the No. 25 shooting guard in the Class 2009, confirmed that he has given a commitment to USC.
Walker (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) is USC's first recruit from the Class of 2009.
"I committed to Coach (Tim) Floyd over the phone," Walker told WeAreSC.com. "I'd been down to the campus two or three times and really liked it. I felt like USC was the right place for me to be."
Walker said he expects to be used as a combo guard at USC.
"I need to work on my handle," Walker told WeAreSC.com. "If I'm going to slide to the 'one' from time to time, I need to be ready to bring it. I'd be going against guys who have been playing point their whole lives and they'll be looking for the tiniest slip up in order to jump in and pick up a steal. I don't want to be the guy that gives them that opportunity."
