Here are some of the highlights from Thursday's baseball playoff games:

In Division I:

Orange Lutheran 2, J.W. North of Riverside 0: Gerrit Cole pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Lancers (22-6) slipped past the visiting Huskies in the first-round contest.

Cole struck out 10, bringing his season total to 108 in 68 innings, as he pitched his sixth consecutive complete game. The senior ace recorded his third shutout of the year.

Cole contributed to his own cause in the first, singling in Tyler Smith to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead. Smith had a double and scored both of Orange Lutheran’s runs.

Los Alamitos 2, Long Beach Poly 0: Brian Tripp singled in a run and scored on a wild pitch, and Beau Wright threw a three-hitter as the Griffins (25-3) shut out the visiting Jackrabbits (19-12).

Los Alamitos will play Canyon in the second round.

Mater Dei 5, Roosevelt 2: Tommy Colton, Brian Fratali and Tyler Rahmatulla combined for eight of the Monarchs’ 12 hits in a victory over the visiting Mustangs.

Fratali finished 3 for 3 with two doubles, Rahmutulla was 3 for 4 with a triple, and Colton was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Aaron Northcraft held Roosevelt to two runs in five innings, and Matt Blanchard blanked the Mustangs over the final two innings to earn the save.

Valencia of Valencia 2, Fountain Valley 1: Stephan Robb’s solo homer in the seventh for the Barons wasn't enough to save them from a loss to the Vikings. Robert Johnson pitched a complete game, holding Valencia to two runs on four hits.

Capistrano Valley 4, Valley View 1: Kyle Hendricks stuck out 10 and surrendered one run to lead the Cougars past the visiting Eagles.

Nolan Clark gave Capo Valley a lead in the first inning, driving in two on a single. Kevin Chambers extended the lead to 4-1 with a two-run home run.

Canyon 3, Royal 2: Shannon Driscoll homered with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the score, and pinch-hitter Derek Waldron doubled in the winning run as the Comanches (15-11-1) rallied to beat the visiting Highlanders (19-9).

Driscoll homered to left center -- the deepest part of the field -- to tie the score at 2 after Royal scored the go-ahead run in the fifth.

Tommy Mobley tied the score at 1 with a solo homer in the third inning.

Gabe Garcia struck out three and threw a complete game for his sixth victory of the season.
