Big inning propels Valencia past No. 8 Katella, 10-4

Tigers score eight times in the second on way to Empire League victory.

Jaime Dominguez went 3 for 5 with an RBI, two runs scored and pitched two innings of scoreless relief as Valencia defeated No. 8 Katella, 10-4, Wednesday in an Empire League baseball game at Katella High.

The Tigers (18-6, 8-4) scored eight runs in the second inning and finished with 14 hits. The Knights dropped to 18-6 overall, 10-2 in league.

In the Century League:

Tustin 8, El Dorado 3: Travis Harrison slugged two home runs, including a grand slam in the sixth inning, and earned his first victory of the season as the Tillers (9-12, 5-7) defeated the host Golden Hawks.

Harrison finished with five RBIs.Taylor Richardson doubled and had an RBI.

Tustin needs to win three of its final four games to finish in third place.

Canyon 11, Brea Olinda 0: Alex Najera had four RBIs as the Comanches (13-9-1, 9-3) routed the host Wildcats (10-12, 5-8).

Gabe Garcia pitched a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts.

In the Golden West League:

Orange 17, Saddleback 3:Steve Garber had four hits and drove in five runs, and the Panthers (15-9, 10-3) scored 11 runs in the sixth to trounce the host Roadrunners (3-20, 1-12).

Eight players knocked in at least one run for Orange.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 5, Sonora 4: Philip Pribac pitched a complete game for the visiting Lancers (6-15, 3-9) and scored the winning run on a single by Dylan Kuhn. Sonora dropped to 18-6, 10-2.
