Former Edison and Ca swimmer Tom Shields broke his American short-courd record by capturing the 200-meter butterfly in 1:50.08 at a FINA World Cup meet in Doha, Qatar.
Shields also moved closer to the world record of 1:48.56 set by Chad Le Clos of South Africa in 2013.
