Mater Dei’s Brianna Daboub scored a power-play goal off a pass from Los Alamitos’ Makenna Oberst to lift the North past the South, 9-8, in double sudden-death overtime in the 18th Orange County all-star girls water polo match at Villa Park on Sunday.

The USC-bound Daboub scored a game-high four goals while Mater Dei’s Sydney Blubaugh, Los Alamitos’ Erika Pauley, Becca Corb and Corinna Toledo and Troy’s Minna Mattis each added one.

Troy goalie Jessica Harris made six saves for the North.

The North scored four goals in the final period as regulation ended in an 8-8 tie.

The game then moved to the first three-minute sudden-death overtime, which featured all 40 players in the pool at the same time. Game organizer John Kulisich said the players requested the format for the first sudden-death overtime, which ended without a goal.

The second overtime period featured the traditional 7-on-7 format and Daboub netted the winner 25 seconds into the frame.

Newport Harbor’s Christina O’Beck and Santa Margarita’s Haley Wan and Kacey Avalos each scored twice for the South. Santa Margarita’s Sage Pfeiffer and Aliso Niguel’s Sera Smith each added one goal apiece.

Newport Harbor’s Cleo Harrington made four saves for the South.
