Santa Margarita’s leading rusher after three games is an intriguing junior who transferred from Mission Viejo.

His name is Tre Green (5-7, 175) and he has rushed for 331 yards on only 40 carries (8.3 yards per carry). He also leads Santa Margarita with seven TDs.

Green’s emergence has allowed the Eagles to limit the two-way duties of Matthew Mark, also a standout linebacker. It also has balanced an attack featuring prolific QB KJ Costello.

Santa Margarita coach Rick Curtis mentioned Green’s transfer in the summer but Green left Mission Viejo without much of a varsity resume.

Green rushed for a season-high 136 yards and three TDs last week against Dorsey.
