A poll that combines the national football rankings of Max Preps, USA Today and others to produce a composite poll has Bishop Gorman of Nevada at No. 1 and De La Salle of Concord at No. 2 in the nation. It has Centennial of Corona at No. 9, St. John Bosco at No. 10 and Bishop Amat of La Puente at No. 18.
Servite plays three of those teams in nonleague games: Gorman; De La Salle; and Amat. Orange Lutheran has nonleague games against two of them: De La Salle and Centennial. Mater Dei plays Amat in the Monarchs’ opener Aug. 28 at Santa Ana Stadium.
Of course, all of Orange County’s Trinity League teams play St. John Bosco in league games.
