How I voted on the OC baseball top 10 … and why I don’t have Sage Hill in my top 10.

1. JSerra 2. El Toro 3. Orange Lutheran 4. Cyress 5. Aliso Niguel 6. Marina 7. Santa Margarita 8. Mission Viejo 9. Foothill 10. Beckman

Huntington Beach is not in my top 10 and is unlikely to be in the OC top 10 when votes are tabulated. And that is something, considering HB was No. 1 in some national preseason rankings.

I’ve got Beckman at No. 10, although I suspect in a best-of-three series against the likes of Mater Dei and Dana Hills and Edison that Beckman would not win 2 of 3.

I don’t have Sage Hill in the top 10. Sage Hill is 22-1 and has won 21 in a row. Great stuff. Sage Hill is being teams of its ilk. There is nothing wrong with that.

However, the best teams Sage has beaten this year are Century and Laguna Beach. Those are two good, Division 4 teams. But until Sage Hill schedules/plays/beats Division 1, 2 and 3 teams with any regularity Sage won’t be on my top 10 ballot.

Sage Hill has a youngish roster. It would be interesting to Sage get into better tournaments and brackets and/or schedule upper-division teams for nonleague games.

Again, nothing wrong with what Sage is doing. That looks like a team that will be playing at UC Riverside in the CIF-Southern Secition Division 6 championship game.
