Orange County offensive player of the year Kai Ross today signed with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Ross, a 6-3, 190-pound quarterback, led Huntington Beach to the CIF-Southern Section Southwest Division championship. He passed for 2,291 yards and 31 touchdowns and rushed for 810 yards and nine touchdowns. Also an outstanding defensive back, Ross returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the Southwest championship game.

“I’m glad to get the recruiting process out of the way,” Ross said today. “Now I can focus on getting ready for college football.”

Ross had committed to Montana, which recruited him to play safety. CPSLO offered Ross the opportunity to play quarterback, so Ross withdrew his commitment to Montana to take the CPSLO offer.

Other county players who signed today with CPSLO are Santa Margarita defensive back Jonathan Labonty and Servite offensive lineman Zach Shallcross.
