San Clemente first-team All-County linebacker Riley Whimpey has committed to Boise State, the Tritons football program announced on Twitter.
Whimpey made a recruiting trip to the Mountain West Conference school last weekend.
The senior also was offered by Utah State.
Whimpey racked up a school-record 173 tackles last season, helping the Tritons reach the Southwest Division finals. He plans to serve his LDS mission before enrolling at Boise State in 2017, Tritons football coach Jaime Ortiz reports.
Boise State featured former Tritons Blake Gonzalez (redshirt freshman) and Terrell Johnson (senior) in 2014.
