Mission Viejo swimmer Min Zhi Chua started his season in record-breaking fashion Thursday.
The senior broke the oldest school record for the storied Mission Viejo program to help the Diablos beat El Toro, 100-70.
Chua won the 100-yard butterfly in 49.50 seconds, breaking the 1979 school record of U.S. Olympian Jesse Vassallo (49.60) by a tenth of a second.
Vassallo was a legendary swimmer from Puerto Rico who set multiple world records in the late 1970s.
