San Clemente girls volleyball coach Rob O’Rear resigned after 21 years, the school announced Monday.

O’Rear led the Tritons to 11 league titles, 17 CIF-SS playoffs appearance, two trips to the CIF finals and a CIF title (2001).

“Rob had a tremendous run as our Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Head Coach.  His teams have consistently been ranked among the top programs in the County year after year,” Athletic Director Rob O’Rear said in an email. “As an on campus teacher, Rob fully understood how to encourage his athletes to be high achieving students first, and that success on the court would follow.

“I can’t thank Rob enough for his constant professionalism, commitment and dedication to our Girls’ Volleyball Program over that past two decades. As well as everything he has done for our overall Athletic Program during his tenure as well.  Rob O’Rear will be greatly missed in the high school volleyball community.”

O’Rear will continue his duties as Foreign Language teacher.
