It is time for several county girls volleyball teams to try their luck in Las Vegas.

The 64-team Durango Fall Classic begins Friday, with teams from Nevada, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Arizona, Kentucky, Utah and Idaho.

Pool play begins Friday afternoon.

Santa Margarita is top seed in pool 3. Laguna Beach (pool 2), San Clemente (pool 5), Edison (pool 6), Villa Park (pool 9) and Los Alamitos (pool 10) are all seeded second in their respective pools.

Beckman (pool 7), El Dorado (pool 12) and Newport Harbor (pool 16 are third seeds in their pool.

Looking at back at the history of county teams at the tournament, only one school has from O.C. has ever won the tournament (Mater Dei, 1995, 1997 and 2001).

Here is the list of county schools that have made the finals: Los Alamitos (2011), Newport Harbor (2009), Los Alamitos (2004), Mater Dei (1998-2000).

Last year, Santa Margarita finished in ninth place, winning the Silver Division championship. Meghan McClure earned all-tournament honors.
