Los Alamitos linebacker Matt Locher, The Register’s defensive player of the year, has announced his commitment to Cal Poly SLO on his Twitter page.
“So proud to announce my commitment to Cal Poly… Cant wait to officially become a Mustang! #SLO #RideHigh,” the senior wrote.
Locher (6-3, 245) is the second county player of the year to commit to the Big Sky contender in as many years. Last season, Register offensive player of the year Kai Ross of Huntington Beach signed with Cal Poly SLO as a quarterback.
The Mustangs also have recently landed a commitment from Tesoro wide out Jake Smeltzer.
