Lakewood junior quarterback JD Rafkin (6-2, 176) has enrolled at Buena Park, continuing a busy offseason for transfers by talented passers in and outside Orange County.

Rafkin helped Lakewood finish 4-2 in the Moore League last season and reach the CIF-SS Pac-5 Division playoffs. He completed 27 of 40 passes for 279 yards and two TDs in a 66-14 loss to Mater Dei in the first round of the playoffs. Rafkin was sacked eight times and intercepted three times.

He also passed for 185 yards and two TDs in a 53-16 loss last season against Los Alamitos in 2015.

His first day at Buena Park was Friday.

In other quarterback transfer news, San Clemente sophomore reserve Doug Jackson (6-3, 160) has enrolled at San Juan Hills, Stallions football coach Aaron Flowers confirmed. Jackson was third on San Clemente’s depth chart last season.

And in early February, Mater Dei reserve quarterback John Jackson (6-0, 180), a junior, enrolled at Serra of GardenaCavaliers coach Scott Altenberg confirmed.

The offseason moves by quarterbacks have included Mater Dei‘s Matt McDonald enrolling at Mission Viejo, Newport Harbor’s Michael Bonds departing for St. Francis and JSerra’s Ryan Hilinski heading to Orange Lutheran.
