Buena Park junior wide receiver Taariq Johnson (6-3, 205) has committed to Cal, Coyotes football coach Anthony White said Sunday.

“I believe this was a great decision and I am extremely proud of Taariq and happy for the Johnson family,” White said in a text message.

Johnson made unofficial trips to Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and Cal in recent weekends and visited out of state schools as well, White said.

The heavily-recruited Johnson also has been offered by schools as an outside linebacker, tight end and athlete.

He finished last season with 34 catches for 477 yards and six TDs.

Cal also has offered Buena Park juniors Elijah Gates, Ryan Nelson and Jeremiah Hawkins.

The Golden Bears signed Buena Park receiver/cornerback Jaylinn Hawkins in 2015.
