Playing in one of her final junior tournaments before heading off to Northwestern in the fall, recent Beckman grad Kaitlin Park led from start to finish Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont to win the fourth AJGA tournament of her career.
Park closed with a 4-under 68 to finish with an 11-under-par 205 which put her four strokes ahead of second place Clare Amelia Lagaspi. All three of Park's round were in the 60s and she holed 15 birdies during the tournament. Fountain Valley sophomore-to-be Lila Vu finished fourth with a 4-under 212.
Park has finished in the top 25 three times this AJGA season.
“This win means a lot because it is one of the last events of my junior career,” Park told the AJGA. “The fact that I will be able to go off to college with this gives me a lot of confidence. I have been really worried about how I am going to compete with the girls in college. I hope that by bringing these kinds of scores to the team, my coach and my team will be happy and at least I will be a good addition.”
