Boys water polo: Ex-Mission Viejo standout out of hospital

Former Mission Viejo and Air Force standout water polo goalie David Ostrom, who is battling terminal cancer but still became a volunteer coach for the Diablos during the summer, is feeling better and has returned home after a stay at Mission Hospital, his wife, Whitney, said in a text message Friday.

Ostrom, 25, is having trouble moving, however, because of a compression fracture in his back, Whitney said.
