Cottriel started at Santa Margarita in 2010. He led the boys to the CIF-SS semifinals in 2010 and the finals in 2011. He was hired in January 2010.
The girls finished tied for the Trinity League title in 2011.
Here are some excerpts from a letter sent to the parents, from Principal Ray Dunne:
....I want to thank him for his service and dedication to both programs and as a school we wish him well in all future endeavors.
...Volleyball has been an important part of our athletic program so it is our goal to seek out top candidates for the positions.
