Boys basketball: Mater Dei scores school-record 137 points

Mater Dei's boys basketball team is going to have a tough time topping its performance Monday night in the opener of the Jim Harris Memorial Tournament of Champions at Ocean View High.

That's because the top-ranked Monarchs (2-0) scored a school-record 137 points in a victory over John Glenn High of Norwalk, 137-26.

The Monarchs scored 55 points in the second quarter, and had 91 at halftime. Stanley Johnson had a game-high 27 points, and fourteen of the Monarchs' players scored.

What will the Monarchs do for an encore? Head over to Ocean View High on Wednesday night to see them in the second round of the tournament at 7:30 p.m.
