Tesoro first-team All-County quarterback Devon Modster has decommitted from Arizona, his private coach, Steve Calhoun of Armed & Dangerous, confirmed Thursday night.
“Life is about making tough decisions and being able to live with the decisions you have made,” a note on Modster’s Twitter account Thursday night read.
“My family and I have decided it was best if I decommit from Arizona and open my recruiting process up to insure I have made the right choice for my future.”
Modster said earlier this month that he remained committed to Arizona and planned to visit the Pac-12 school in mid-January.
Arizona also received a commitment from quarterback Khalil Tate of Serra of Gardena, but Modster remained steady on the Wildcats and the prospects of competion.
“I already knew there was going to be three quarterbacks already there,” Modster said earlier this month of competition at Arizona. “It’s not really a big deal.”
Modster delivered a sensational senior season, which featured several difficult foes. He reported last week that he has been offered by Oklahoma State.
