Malik McMorris is an All-County defensive linemand who also was a heck of a fullback for Mater Dei. He also is one of the top track and field athletes in California, in the shot put and discus.
He has offers from a few schools here and there, but he is leaning toward going the walk-on route at Cal for football, Mater Dei coach Bruce Rollinson said today.
McMorris is 6-foot, 290 pounds. That footwork learned in the throws, and his quickness — he also is a good basketball player — should make him a bona fide football recruit for somebody.
McMorris won a Sports Illustrated athlete of the month award this past October.
