Mater Dei has named junior Matt McDonald as its starting quarterback for Friday’s season-opening game against fellow Pac-5 Division foe Bishop Amat, Monarchs football coach Bruce Rollinson said Monday.
McDonald competed against freshman JT Daniels for the starting position.
“We have no specific plan regarding when, but frosh JT Daniels will play also,” Rollinson said in an e-mail. “They both had outstanding camps … (and) we are excited to unveil both of them.”
