Crean Lutheran and SOCAL club swimmer Emily Eastin has committed to Michigan, her club coach, Stephen Pickell, reports.

Eastin, known as a standout backstroker, helped power Crean Lutheran to the CIF Division 2 title last season and a runner-up finish to JSerra at the state meet.

“I believe The University of Michigan will provide me with an amazing college experience through world-class academics and athletics,” Eastin said in an email. “I am so excited to compete at the college level and become a part of the Wolverine family. GO BLUE!”

As a junior, Eastin captured the 200 individual medley (1:53.90) and the 100 backstroke (54.24) at the CIF Division 2 final.

And at the state meet, she helped Crean Lutheran set the national private school record in the 400 free relayh with a 3:20.03.

Eastin’s sister, Ella, is a freshman swimmer at Stanford.
