It is possible that there will be a five-way tie in the Trinity League.

If Santa Margarita beats Mater Dei, JSerra beats Orange Lutheran and St. John Bosco beats Servite — all quite possible — there would be a five-way tie for second place.

There is no way that head-to-head results can breat the tie, so coin flips would be required to determine which teams are designated as the Trinity League’s Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 playoff representatives.

The coin flip festivities will take place at the Servite athletic director’s office Friday at 10:30 p.m., or as soon as representatives of the teams involved would arrive.

Only the top three teams in the Trinity League receive guaranteed playoff berths in CIF-Southern Section’s Pac-5 Division. The Pac-5 has two at-large berths. It is likely the Trinity’s No. 4 will get one of the at-large berths, and very possible the league’s No. 5 will get the other. But a No. 6 team is not going to go to the playoffs.
